The Howqua valley behind Mount Bulla has always had great meaning for me. My mother grew up in the region (in fact I believe that her father was the culpable individual who first drove a car to Sheepyard Flat, a Model T Ford in the early 1920’s). I learnt to fly-fish in the river and spent many nights camping alongside the Howqua. For me, it is filled with memories; of people like Bob Ritchie and Fred Fry, of birds, like lyrebirds and satin Bowerbirds and of the ever-present bulk of Mount Bulla. The painting depicts a slope at the back of Mount Bulla with a young Wedge-tailed Eagle sweeping in low to the tree-tops, wild and free, the spirit of the valley. What is a Giclee Print?
The picture has been printed using a giclée process with Epson pigment inks on Breathing Color Lyve Canvas: an archival certified, premium, heavy (450gsm) matte canvas. The print has also been finished with a Hahnemühle protective coating, which seals the surface and protects it from dust and fingerprints, increases moisture resistance and helps to protect from fading caused by UV rays. Tests show that this combination of materials produces long life prints, but as with all prints, exposure to direct sunlight may eventually affect the print.
